  • Latest OpenSignal State of the Mobile Networks report shows T-Mobile still on top, Verizon and AT&T recovering

OpenSignal’s bi-yearly carrier report for the US was just released, and T-Mobile’s rampage from last year seems to be continuing. Although both Verizon and AT&T are seeing some recovery in network speed after the reintroduction of their unlimited plans last year, T-Mobile has again topped nearly every category in OpenSignal’s testing. Sprint, though still in 4th overall, is also making great strides in both speed and availability.

According to OpenSignal, T-Mobile’s average LTE download speed has hit 19.42Mbps, which is a significant improvement of 10% over the last six months.

  • Here are the best deals from Amazon’s Great Indian Sale

    Get your wallets ready.

Amazon is kicking off 2018 with another instalment of the Great Indian Sale. The retailer is offering exciting discounts on phones, accessories, fashion and lifestyle products, and digital content. One of the highlights of the sale is a ₹3,000 discount on the LG Q6, which brings the price of the phone down to ₹11,990. If you’re interested in a physical keyboard, the KEYone is available for ₹34,999.

Amazon has been increasing focus on its own brands — including Solimo, Symbol and Myx but the most interesting of the lot is AmazonBasics. If you haven’t come across the brand yet, AmazonBasics has everything from cables to audio gear, mobile accessories, bags, and even luggage. Having bought a variety of HDMI and Ethernet cables, I can attest to their quality. And the prices are unbelievably low.

Over the last month, Amazon has been adding bedding sets and kitchen essentials to AmazonBasics, and considering the deep discounts, it’s wort…

  • The Mi Robot vacuum is my favorite Xiaomi product, and now there’s a new one

The successor to the Mi Robot vacuum is here, and it brings a host of upgrades.

Xiaomi’s primarily known for its phones, but the Chinese manufacturer is increasingly looking to the lifestyle segment to drive future growth. Xiaomi collaborates with hundreds of Chinese manufacturers for its Mi Ecosystem label, through which it sells everything from rice cookers to scooters, luggage, screwdriver sets, and more. One of the earliest products to come out of the Mi Ecosystem line was the Mi Robot vacuum, a $250 robotic vacuum cleaner with LIDAR and automated cleaning routes.

I bought Xiaomi’s Mi Robot vacuum on a whim back in 2016, and it turned out to be one of my best purchases. The vacuum has a powerful 1800Pa motor, 5200mAh battery, a total of 12 sensors that allow it to navigate the inner confines of your house, and an intelligent routing algorithm through which it can determine the most efficient cleaning routes.

The one downside of the Mi Robot vacuum was that it doesn’t have a …

  • [Deal Alert] Save $50 on JBL Link speakers with Google Assistant

If you’re looking to pick up a smart speaker with Google Assistant, but would prefer it to be portable and not resemble an air freshener, JBL has some good options for you, and they’ve each been discounted by $50 at several retailers.

The battery-powered JBL Link 10 is discounted $50, from $150 to $100, and the larger Link 20 is down from $200 to $150. These IPX7 waterproof speakers have Google Assistant and Chromecast capabilities built in, and JBL claims the Link 10 will give you 5 hours of play time, and the Link 20 will run for 10 hours. (Why not just number them based on their playback time and call them the Link 5 and Link 10 so no one gets confused?

  • Moto X4 Android One now offered as replacement for faulty Nexus 5X phones on Project Fi in lieu of crappy $53 payout

By now, you’re all probably familiar with the Nexus 5X and its tendency to bootloop. This has caused some major headaches, especially to those Nexus 5X owners on Project Fi who purchased Device Protection (formerly known as Nexus Protect). However, Project Fi support is now offering the Moto X4 Android One as replacements for faulty 5Xes, which makes a lot more sense than a paltry $53 check.

In our original post, we mentioned that “Google should probably just offer [the Moto X4 Android One] as a replacement considering 5X owners have put up with a phone that commits suicide every few months.” Lo and behold, Google is doing exactly that.

  • [Deal Alert] Ultimate Lightning McQueen by Sphero is $148.99 (50% off) on Amazon

About half a year ago, we reviewed Sphero’s Ultimate Lightning McQueen RC car. We walked away unimpressed due to its subpar controls and monstrous $300 price tag, despite its realism and cool factor. Now it’s been discounted to a much more reasonable $148.99, just a bit over 50% off its MSRP, on Amazon.

Ultimate Lightning McQueen is supposed to be a realistic scale version of the Cars movies’ Lightning McQueen. There are a ton of motors, touch sensors, lights, and a speaker on board, all so that McQueen can talk and move just like the real thing.
