  • OnePlus 6 sales open today — here’s how to get $20 off accessories with purchase

The latest iteration for OnePlus’ line of phones is a polarizing piece of hardware. You might like or hate the industrial design, which includes one of those “notches,” but the specs and pricing for the OnePlus 6 aren’t to be ignored—it even has a headphone jack, which is one up over the Pixel 2. And now you can actually buy one, as sales for the phone have opened starting today.

At the time of writing, none of the four SKUs currently available have sold out.

  • Starbucks beats out Apple, Google, and Samsung for most popular mobile payments platform

The Starbucks app allows customers to pay for their caffeine fix and earn rewards points for subsequent coffee runs without using cash or a card. It only works at Starbucks, obviously. Despite the fact that payments through Google Pay and Apple Pay are now accepted at more than half of US merchants (and more than 80 percent take Samsung Pay), the Starbucks app is currently the most popular mobile payments platform—and it’s projected to stay that way.

  • Comcast launches a mesh WiFi system with the $119 xFi Pod kit

Using a single router is so 2014. Now, everyone is into mesh WiFi systems like Eero and Google Wifi. Not to be outdone, Comcast has its own mesh system that connects to the Xfinity Internet Gateway. The new xFi Pods are now available as a three-pack for $119.

The xFi Pods are small white blocks that plug directly into your power outlets around the house. Comcast recommends the $119 three-pack for homes with 3-4 bedrooms.

  • Android P DP2 Battery Saver remains active even after charging

New Android versions always add little quality of life tweaks, and Android P is no exception. We’ve had Developer Preview 2 for a couple of weeks, and we’re still discovering things to like about it. Case in point: some of our intrepid readers have noted that the Battery Saver toggle stays on after charging.

Previously, Battery Saver would turn off when you plug your phone in, which makes sense—but it would stay off when unplugged again.

  • Twitter is killing its apps for Roku, Android TV and Xbox

Apps will remain for Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, though.

Fun fact: Twitter had apps for Roku, Android TV and Xbox.

Another fun fact: Those apps will no longer work come May 24. While Twitter didn’t explicitly say why, TechCrunch says it had to do with the new European General Data Protection Regulation, which goes into effect May 25 and is the reason all of your apps have been updating and letting you know that they’re updating their privacy policies and basically making a mess of your inbox in the name of privacy.

    Or something.

And apparently the Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV apps will remain in service.

On Thursday, May 24, Twitter for Roku, Twitter for Android TV and Twitter for Xbox will no longer be available. To get the full Twitter experience, visit https://t.co/fuPJa3nVky on your device or desktop.— Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) May 22, 2018

  • How to set up the Steam Link beta on Android

This app is way more versatile than it appears at first.

If like me, you have been looking for a good reason to own an Android tablet, Valve may have given us the perfect excuse. Steam Link has been available as a small device for your TV for quite some time now and did the job of allowing you to stream your games to the biggest screen in your house admirably but it didn’t allow for much portability.

The new Steam Link app, however, does allow you to move freely around your house and play all your favorite Steam games on any Android device you own as long as it is Android 5.0 and up. That means even my ancient Hudl from Tesco runs it, although without a 5ghz band on your tablet’s wifi you may experience some latency issues. Setting up the Steam link is easy but you will need a few things.

    What you need

A Bluetooth controller compatible with your Android device. They recommend the Steam controller but isn’t required.

  • Twitter kills official applications for Android TV, Roku, and Xbox

Twitter has been consolidating its official apps lately, while simultaneously cutting off some third-party API features. The Windows 10 app was replaced by the Twitter Lite web app, and the Mac app was discontinued in February. The company announced t…
