Google’s been updating a ton of its services with new looks recently, including the modern new Gmail UI that landed earlier today. But this year’s spring cleaning isn’t just about refreshing things for consumers. Developers are also getting a bit of love. Google has just updated its Android Developer site with a new design.
The new site homepage (above) compared to the old design (below).
The new design is white, it’s bright, and it’s loaded with white space.

If you aren’t already familiar with Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy (which was released on Steam last December), then odds are you might remember a little browser-based game called QWOP by the same developer. Kiddos everywhere, including myself, wasted hours controlling the runner’s individual muscles in a frustration-based exercise that somehow still bordered on entertainment. Well, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy takes that same anger-induced amusement and turns it up to 11.
I don’t want to give away to much about the game, it really is something else.
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy now out on Android to ruin your day was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
Snapchat will soon be gaining a set of augmented reality games called Snappables, Snap announced today. Snappables, which should roll out to Snapchatters later this week, are a new form of interactive Lenses through which users can play together (or b…
Sometimes it can be hard to get excited about all the smart home gadgets out there. Almost every company seems to have a wireless security camera (just give a search on Amazon), but every once in a while we see something that’s actually sort of cool o…
As if Gmail didn’t make enough news today thanks to the launch of a new web interface and beginning to roll out the long-long-awaited snooze feature, there’s also a new version of the app floating out into the world. It only appears to add one feature…
Nest launched the Cam IQ last year as its first device with facial recognition, and over time, it’s gotten more features like Google Assistant integration. It’s a great camera, but the $300 asking price is steep. You can, however, get a solid discount today on Woot. You can save $100 or more, and the camera isn’t even a refurb.
This camera sports a 4k sensor, but it streams in 1080p. The higher resolution sensor allows the IQ to zoom in without losing as much detail as other cameras.
[Deal Alert] Nest Cam IQ on sale at Woot for $199.99 ($100 off) or $339.99 for a 2-pack ($160 off) was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
Spotify’s app has needed on overhaul for a while, and it came to its non-paying users first.
Spotify’s Free service is — at its heart — meant to lure you in and then convince you to pay for Premium, To this end, Spotify has rolled out a shiny new update to its Android app that’s meant to help draw in more new users and convince them to pay for Premium.
And it is every bit as annoying to use as it is beautiful, so congratulations, Spotify, you succeeded.

The new look for Spotify Free is quite enticing, from simplifying the tabs and the layout to giving the playback screen an intimate and dare I say sexy new look. We now have four tabs instead of five, but since one tab is a giant ad pushing you to Premium, we’re going to ignore it and focus on the other three:
The Home tab has been simplified tenfold. Where there was carousel after carousel of genre playlists and promoted playlists, there are now only three things: a single carousel of Rec…
A fresh look for your inbox is just a few clicks away.
The new Gmail web interface that was announced just a couple weeks ago has launched, bringing both a refreshed design and also a handful of new features. The overall look is a bit cleaner, like what we saw in the Google Calendar refresh earlier this year, with lots of Material Design influences. There are new features like a “confidential mode,” email snoozing, better integration with other Google apps, Smart Replies like in Inbox, an improved offline mode and more.
That’s all great, but it’s actually not enabled by default yet. Here’s how you can skip the line and check out the new Gmail interface right away:
Load Gmail on the web and sign in.
In the top-right corner of the inbox, find the cog/gear icon and click it.
If it’s made available for your account, you’ll see an option for “Try the new Gmail” at the very top — click it.
After a page reload, you’ll have to click Next on the pop-up and then choose a view for your i…
