The Bloons are finally back, grab ‘Bloons TD 6’ off of the Play Store right now

Thursday, June 14th, 2018

Bloons TD 6 is the long-awaited sequel to Ninja Kiwi's hit balloon-popping tower defense game Bloons TD 5. It's been six years since the fifth entry was released on the Play Store, so as you can imagine this sequel has been a long time coming, but the question remains, is the $4.99 cost of entry worth it? Well, that all depends on how you view upfront paid games that also contain a bunch of in-app purchases.

Kalypso Media’s skyscraper construction sim ‘Project Highrise’ is out on Android

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

People have been clamoring for ages for a proper SimTower successor. It would seem that skyscraper construction simulators are a very niche genre. Sure, we have a few mobile releases from Kairosoft and NimbleBit that may scratch that itch, but it's not like they can really compete on the same level. This is why so many fans of the genre were ecstatic when Kalypso Media's Project Highrise hit the scene.

SMG Studio’s co-op puzzle game ‘Death Squared’ is out

Wednesday, March 28th, 2018

SMG Studio's Death Squared made the rounds for consoles and PC back in the beginning of 2017, and it was well received. Today it has released on the Play Store, which means Android users can finally see what all the fuss was about. There is no doubt that this is a well thought-out puzzle game that includes both a single-player and co-op experience for its main campaign, but the question remains, is it a good port?

AR Smash Tanks! is a fun way to spend an afternoon smashing tanks into one another

Wednesday, March 21st, 2018

With all of the augmented reality titles that have released on the Play Store in the last week, you may have missed out on Dumpling Co's AR Smash Tanks! It's an AR board game that is designed around smashing tanks by utilizing a simple slingshot mechanic for movement. Your goal is to fling your tanks into your enemies in order to deplete their health. Much like a physical board game, you have a set playfield that these battles take place on, and with the inclusion of AR, you can easily display that board on your coffee table at home or your desk at work.

Stampede Games’ minimal puzzler ‘.projekt’ just landed on the Play Store

Tuesday, March 13th, 2018

Stampede Games may sound familiar thanks to their previous release Evo Explores, which happens to look and play a lot like Monument Valley. Well, it would appear that the developer has released an all-new puzzle game for Android called .projekt, and I have to say it's quite striking. But even if you ignore the well-thought-out art direction, the puzzle-based gameplay holds its own while offering up a solid challenge worth the asking price.

Valve’s upcoming Dota 2 card game ‘Artifact’ is coming to Android in 2019

Friday, March 9th, 2018

Valve has apparently been working with known Magic: The Gathering designer Richard Garfield since 2014 to come up with an all-new game for PC, consoles, and mobile. It is called Artifact, and it's a Dota 2-themed collectible card game that looks like it will be Valve's answer to Hearthstone. The console and PC release dates are scheduled for the end of 2018, but the sad news is that it will not be hitting Android until mid-2019.

The stand-alone Baldur’s Gate expansion ‘Siege of Dragonspear’ just landed on the Play Store

Thursday, March 8th, 2018

Three days ago I wrote about the upcoming release of Beamdog's Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear for Android. It was scheduled to hit the Play Store on the 8th, and it actually released on time. Essentially this is a port of the stand-alone expansion for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. It uses the same engine as the Enhanced Edition, which means it looks and plays exactly like the rest of Beamdog's CRPGs.

Keep in Mind: Remastered is a short walking simulator that deals with heavy concepts like depression

Thursday, March 8th, 2018

Akupara Games' recent release Keep in Mind: Remastered is at its core a walking simulator that confronts heavy concepts like alcoholism and depression. Needless to say, this isn't your average mobile game. It most definitely won't appeal to a mass audience, though for those of you who are interested, it does explore some of the darker sides of average suburban life.

If you have never heard of Keep in Mind before, let me fill you in.

Cytus II is here, and it’s 30% off for the first week

Thursday, March 8th, 2018

Just last week I wrote a piece about Rayark International's rhythm-based game Cytus II coming to Android soon thanks to the fact that it was finally listed on the Play Store for pre-registration. Well, despite having no information on the official release date at that time, it would seem we didn't have to wait too long as Cytus II is now officially available. You can currently purchase the base game for $1.39, which is 30% off of the regular price.

Take a trip down memory lane with ‘Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty’

Thursday, December 14th, 2017

I feel like it has been a long time coming, but it's finally here. Oddworld New 'n' Tasty has officially launched on Android, and you can pick it up today for $7.99. For some odd reason, Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. had only released two of their later Oddworld games (Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee) on the Play Store despite the fact that the first title in the series has had an HD port on PC and consoles since 2015.
