Oreo's era is in full swing and the next device to get the chocolate and cream treat is HTC's U11. Back in August, when Oreo officially launched, HTC said it would be bringing the new software version to the U11, U Ultra, and HTC 10, and the first one appears to have won the race.

Twitter user @shimonips tweeted that he got the update notification on his Taiwan unit of the U11.

Monday, June 26th, 2017

There are already plenty of color options for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, including Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Maple Gold, and Coral Blue. That's an awful lot of colors to choose from, but if you wanted a pink phone, you were unfortunately out of luck. Samsung has announced a new color of the S8+, named "Rose Pink," but it will only be available in Taiwan (for now).

The Rose Pink model joins the other S8/S8+ colors available in Taiwain, which were recently rebranded for some reason.

Android Pay is now available in Taiwan

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

After what was a pretty slow start, support for new regions by Android Pay is starting to gather pace. A couple of weeks ago, Google pointed to the next 10 countries on the list. After the recent launches in Canada and Russia, Taiwan has now reached the front of the checkout queue – Android Pay is available in the country from today.

At launch, the following banks and cards are compatible with Android Pay in Taiwan:

Banks Supported cards Unsupported cards
Chinatrust Bank CTBC VISA and Mastercard credit card CTBC debit card, prepaid card, commercial card, procurement card
First Bank All VISA and Mastercard personal credit cards VISA Debit Card, Commercial cards

It seems some Taiwanese regulation is limiting support to credit cards for the time being, and it's unclear if that will change anytime soon. There are, at least, a good number of stores in Taiwan that will accept payments through Android Pay, such as PX Mart, Carrefour, Watsons, and more.

Friday, May 19th, 2017

Earlier this week, we wrote about some strong evidence hinting that Canada and Russia would be getting Android Pay support imminently. However, despite a ton of hints toward this, we had no official statements to support these claims. Today, though, The Keyword (Google's official blog) confirmed that those two countries, along with a few more, will have Android Pay availability soon.

In the blog post, VP of Payment Products Pali Bhat writes that more countries will have Android Pay soon.
