The OnePlus 6T may have been our favorite phone of 2018, but it wasn't without its problems. Recently, we reported that OnePlus phones appear to be resetting battery optimization settings randomly, but it appears that OnePlus 6 and 6T may also have some good, old-fashioned microphone troubles, too: Many are experiencing issues with call and recording quality in third-party apps like Snapchat and WhatsApp.

Reports are widespread, going back to the middle of last year.

Based on a handful of reports on the OnePlus product forums, some 6T owners have run into a problem with their phone's display in which a pixelated sort of "wave" or pulse of bright colors travels up or down the screen. A reliable trigger can't seem to be found, but for those that are affected, it appears to happen more often on the lock screen while using either OnePlus' face recognition or the in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone.

Verizon Wireless began rolling out a software update yesterday (August 10th) to fix what seems like a set of fairly uncommon bugs related to video calls, phone calls, and the iris scanner. The bug-fixing update also brings the July security patch.

Here are the notes for what Verizon is calling "System Update 2" for the S9 and S9+, which is build number R16NW.G960USQU3ARG4 for the S9 and R16NW.G965USQU3ARG4 for the S9+:

MoviePass suffers outage because it ran out of money, stock falls 70% in one day

Most of our readers should probably be familiar with MoviePass—if not for the company's movie ticket-accessing subscription service, at least for its presence in the news for the last few days. MoviePass owners Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc. recently performed a reverse-split for the company's shares to drive up stock prices, which backfired a bit. More recently, everyone's favorite $6.95 a month service ran into a bit of a snag last night, resulting in a date night-stopping outage.
