Weekend Poll: Pick your favorite product from this year’s CES

Sunday, January 13th, 2019

This year's CES is officially over, and announcements from the event over the last week have effectively dominated the news. We walked away from Vegas with a pile of our favorite upcoming gadgets, but opinions don't end there; these products succeed or fail based on your interest. So we're curious, which of the Android-related announcements from CES has you most excited?

Outside the Nubia Red Magic Mars, phones were under-represented as a category at the event.

Weekend poll: Are you happy with your phone’s battery life?

Sunday, January 6th, 2019

People look at a lot of different features when purchasing a phone, and everyone seems to appreciate "good" battery life. You've already told us what scale of numbers qualifiesfor that particular label, but I'm curious to know if your current phone, whatever it may be, delivers when it comes to longevity.

Oscillating between the smaller Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T, my battery life goes from poor to swell. I only really consider it "good" when I'm using the 6T.

Weekend poll: Pick our Android Police Readers’ Choice phone of the year

Sunday, December 30th, 2018

Some of you may remember as far back as three weeks ago when we announced selecting the OnePlus 6T as our phone of the year. This was after a long and bitter struggle following an internal nomination and selection process. But although the OnePlus 6T topped our own list this year, we're curious to see what you, our collective readers, consider the best phone of the year.

Not to toot our or your horns too hard, but we think our readers have a more sophisticated taste than most when it comes to Android phones, as the elaborate and specific discussions in our comments sections (sometimes) reflect.

Weekend poll: Do you buy phones as gifts?

Sunday, December 23rd, 2018

It's that gift-giving time of year. As 2018 approaches its end, you've probably either stocked up on or already given away presents to friends, loved ones, and colleagues. So we're curious: When it comes to gift-giving, do you ever buy phones as presents?

For many of us, the investment inherent in purchasing a phone is a serious chunk of change. Regardless of how much we might like someone, it could just be financially infeasible to buy your buddy a Galaxy Note9 for Christmas.

Weekend poll: How often do you use Google’s Discover feed?

Sunday, December 16th, 2018

Discover, a rebranding for the familiar content list formerly known as "Feed," seems to be rolling out to a wider audience this week. The rename-associated redesign landed all the way back in October shortly after the announcement, updated dark theme and all. With more people experiencing it, I'm curious to know how many of you make Discover/Feed a regular part of your day.

Just in case you aren't familiar, Google's Feed/Discover gives you a customized list of content relevant to your interests based, at least in part, on stuff you search for.

Weekend poll: What kind of headphones do you use with your smartphone?

Sunday, December 9th, 2018

The fight for the headphone jack seems to be a losing battle, much to my own cable-loving chagrin. With the simultaneous popularity of Bluetooth headphone deals and a growing tolerance for jack-less phones, I thought it would be a good time to revisit the question: What kind of headphones are you using for your phone?

We've done this poll before, and I'd like to see how the number may have changed over the years — specifically if you've been moving to wireless headphones in droves, as comments seem to suggest.

Weekend poll: Do you still use Google Hangouts?

Sunday, December 2nd, 2018

Google's Hangouts messaging platform has been a hot subject these last couple of days. Initially, a recent report pegged Google to give Hangouts the ax in 2020, but a director involved with the project at Google claims no such date was set, and that a migration is planned to transition Hangouts (as consumers know it, anyway) into Meet/Chat. Whatever ends up actually happening, at a minimum, it sounds like Hangouts will change in the future.

Weekend poll: How often do you use Google Assistant?

Sunday, November 25th, 2018

Two products seem to be especially popular among our readers in this recent deal season: smart speakers and smart displays. With a Pixel-heavy fanbase that's heavily invested into Google's ecosystem, I'm not surprised that Assistant-powered hardware is a common choice for many of you. So I'm curious: Regardless of whether you have a condo filled to the brim with Google Homes and smart displays, or a home entirely empty of them (save the Assistant on your phone), how often do you use the Assistant?

Weekend poll: Are you after any specific deals this upcoming Black Friday?

Sunday, November 18th, 2018

It's that time of the year, and we're gearing up for it here at Android Police. No, I'm not just talking about Thanksgiving, but the avalanche of discounts and sales associated with the post-Thanksgiving "Black Friday" commercial holiday. For many deals, you don't even have to wait, as plenty of retailers have been pushing out promotions early, and we've been covering them. That's not even mentioning our coming, monolithic, ongoing Black Friday 2018 roundup.

Weekend poll: Do you have touch sounds on or off?

Sunday, November 11th, 2018

We all have our own process when setting up a new phone for the first time. Sometimes that's as simple as restoring a backup and tweaking whatever we need to fit the new device, other times we might want to try something new just to see what it's like. Whatever the case, most phones out there seem to come with touch sounds — a feature which makes a noise when you touch your screen — enabled.
