Wednesday, December 5th, 2018

Samsung has traditionally been behind on UI design, which I know is shocking for the company that brought you TouchWiz. However, it's trying to turn things around with One UI. The revamped Pie-based interface is coming next year in stable form, but there's a beta.

Samsung’s One UI Pie beta now available on unlocked Note 9 in the US

Wednesday, November 28th, 2018

Samsung has traditionally been behind on UI design, which I know is shocking for the company that brought you TouchWiz. However, it's trying to turn things around with One UI. The revamped Pie-based interface is coming next year in stable form, but there's a beta. That beta has apparently expanded to US unlocked Note 9 devices. Yay.

When Samsung started the Pie beta, it only allowed Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners to join.

Exynos-powered Galaxy Note9 dual-SIM is just $650 on eBay

Saturday, November 24th, 2018

At an MSRP of $1,000, the Galaxy Note9 is one of those phones that many wait for discounts on to pick up. We've seen the Exynos dual-SIM model discounted a few times in the past, but this price of $649.99 on eBay is the lowest we've seen yet.

This version of the Note9 (SM-N960F/DS) sports a 6.4" 1440p AMOLED display, an Exynos 9810, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a dual 12MP rear camera setup, an 8MP front-facing camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Android 9 Pie is coming to the Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9 in January

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018

Samsung's new One UI isn't just a development in the company's previous design aesthetic, it's also noteworthy for being the vehicle for the Galaxy S9, S9+, and Note9's update to Android 9 Pie. You see, we've seen the early tests for One UI before, we know it's based on Android Pie, and according to Samsung's Developer Conference keynote, One UI is expected to land next January. Ipso facto, those phones should be getting Pie then.

Samsung may have been less than explicit in its announcement (or if they were, we didn't catch it), but all of the facts point to a January update to Pie via One UI.

[Update: Orders open] Samsung Galaxy Note9 to soon be available in Midnight Black and Cloud Silver in the US

Friday, October 12th, 2018

Oddly, Samsung released the Galaxy Note9 in the US with only two colors, neither of which can be considered conventional: Ocean Blue and Lavender Purple. That was a big step from the standard black/white/gold palette that's been popular for years, though it looks like Samsung is slowly bringing that back to the US to some degree with the reintroduction of Midnight Black and Cloud Silver.
