Google will begin certifying Android devices for business use, starting with phones from LG, BlackBerry, Motorola, and others

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018

When it comes to security, Android devices are a mixed bag - to say the least. Few manufacturers make promises about long-term support, and timely security updates are rare. This is understandably a concern for large businesses, which often don't want to worry about security flaws or constantly deploy new devices. For many enterprise customers, the question of which Android phones should be used is difficult to answer.

Google's solution to this problem is the 'Android Enterprise Recommended' program, which defines which Android devices are ideal for business use.

HMD Global still hasn’t released the kernel sources for the Nokia 8

Saturday, February 3rd, 2018

HMD Global, the exclusive manufacturer of Nokia-branded phones, has done a pretty good job of keeping their devices up-to-date. Late last month, for instance, the company opened up the Android 8.1 beta for the Nokia 8. But this doesn't change the fact that it's been 136 days since HMD's Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, tweeted that the kernel source code for the Nokia 8 would be shared with the open-source community — and it still hasn't happened.

Nokia’s hilarious new commercial will teach you the art of ‘Phone Shui’

Wednesday, January 31st, 2018

These days, many advertisements try to be truly different to stand out from the crowd and get people talking. Nokia seems to be attempting this approach with its new ad, which features a guru teaching an apartment renter about the arts of minimalism and 'Phone Shui.' In other words, Nokia is pushing its pure Android angle.

The commercial stars "minimalist guru and superstar vlogger Aapo Hämälänanainen," who has somehow made his way into a man's apartment and gotten rid of all of his things (including his roommate). Hämälänanainen then calms the man down, telling him that all of his things weren't necessary.

After being leaked by a Chinese retailer just yesterday, the second generation Nokia 6 is now official. Thanks to a page on Nokia's China website, we can confirm a lot of the details we learned yesterday. The 2018 version is in many ways an iterative update, but it also makes some improvements, not least upgrading to a mid-range Snapdragon 630 chipset instead of the lower-end 430 that came with last year's model.
