[Deal Alert] Moto G5 Plus (64GB/4GB) on sale for $239.99 ($60 off) at Amazon and Best Buy

Saturday, August 19th, 2017

Motorola's high-end phones haven't been my favorite devices for the last few years, but the budget lineup is fantastic. In fact, the Moto G5 Plus is probably the best phone you can get in its price range. It's even better if you have the version with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM, but that's usually too spendy at $300. Today, it's about $60 cheaper—just $239.99, which is only $10 more than the base model.

Motorola appears poised to finally update the Moto 360 Sport to Android Wear 2.0

Saturday, August 19th, 2017

A lot of things have changed over at Moto following the takeover by Lenovo. For instance, the phones are modular and the watches are... nonexistent. The company still supports the older wearables, although owners of the Moto 360 Sport might disagree there. They've been waiting on an update to Android Wear 2.0 for ages, but it looks like the OTA is finally about to roll out.

The regular second-gen Moto 360 got the update to Wear 2.0 a while back, but the Sport variant was left behind.

Motorola’s Z2 Force may also have the so-called “jelly effect” popularized by the OnePlus 5

Saturday, August 12th, 2017

It seems like Motorola's latest just can't catch a break. Following the unfortunate news about the hardiness of the ShatterSheild display, it turns out there may be another problem with the screen. The Moto Z2 Force may also suffer from the "jelly" effect which results in a slight distortion of the screen on certain animations.

That should sound pretty familiar, as it's the same issue the OnePlus 5's display has.

The Moto Z2 Force performs well in JerryRigEverything’s durability test

Friday, August 11th, 2017

Lenovo's latest Moto flagship has been through the mill a bit recently. The problems with the Z2 Force's shatterproof but easily scratchable plastic-covered screen have been well documented, and the smaller battery is one of a number of other disappointments when compared to its predecessor. Its price was seemingly slashed by $80 before it was even released (although Moto denies this), and David has even concluded that the Z line and its mods add up to little more than a thinly veiled money grabbing exercise.

Pictures of Moto X4 leak via Brazilian homologation agency, reveal thick body and headphone jack

Thursday, August 10th, 2017

Motorola has said in the past that the Moto X line would not be returning, but recent leaks of the Moto X4 have proved that the company's since changed its mind. Our latest leak comes courtesy of Anatel, Brazil's homologation agency, and brings with it a number of pictures that reveal the device at all angles.

The front is signature Lenovorola, with the oval-shaped fingerprint sensor on the bottom. The top contains prototype text and markings, but that'll be replaced by some "moto" branding on the production model.

[Deal Alert] B&H has the gray Moto Z Play XT1635 for $349.99 ($100 off)

Thursday, August 10th, 2017

The Moto Z Play may be getting a tad old at this point, but it's a good phone even by today's standards. From all accounts, it does everything that most smartphone users want it to do while striking firmly in the mid-range price spectrum. B&H has the Z Play for $349.99, a total savings of $100. Plus, there's no tax collected outside of New Jersey and New York.

Motorola did a pretty decent job with the original Z Play, which you can read about in Ryan's review from last September.
