Samsung’s cancelled ‘Project V’ foldable phone from years ago shows up in leaked photos

Sunday, June 17th, 2018

Recently, ZTE's foldable Axon M made a bit of a wave by being released with not one, but two 5.2" 1080p displays. It was a bold move, but it obviously hasn't sold well. It looks like Samsung experimented with the same idea back in 2015-2016, ultimately choosing to scrap the project. But some leaked images of it, dubbed "Project V," have recently surfaced, showing what could have been.

The phone's model number is SM-G929F.

[Update: Maybe not] Samsung may be using Wear OS for its upcoming smartwatches instead of Tizen

Friday, June 8th, 2018

Those of you who follow Samsung closely may have noticed that devices running Android or Android-based OSes (e.g. Galaxy S9, Galaxy J7, Galaxy Gear) all have the "Galaxy" in their name for the most part, whereas those that run Tizen/other software (e.g.

[Update: More images from all angles] Is this the Pixel 3 XL? Two photos of what sure looks like Google’s next phone

Friday, June 8th, 2018

Did Google's next smartphone just get outed on a random XDA Forums post? Because that's sure what it looks like just happened. Two images were posted on XDA last night, and well, they sure line up with what we know about the Pixel 3 XL so far. The front is a pretty dead-on match for that screen protector leak, and the rear definitely looks like a subtle evolution of the existing phone's design.

BlackBerry's KEYone successor, the KEY2, is set to be announced in a few days on June 7th. But it turns out that we won't have to wait to get a good look at the KEY2, as serial leaker Evan Blass has just published some press images revealing every angle of the phone.

As we already knew from an official teaser, the KEY2 has a dual camera setup and a special keyboard button, both of which are visible in these shots.

Google’s Pixel 3 could use the same manufacturer as the iPhone (also, there’s a notch)

Wednesday, May 30th, 2018

Since days of yore, Google has worked with other OEMs to build its phones. The first set of Pixels was manufactured by HTC; the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, HTC and LG, respectively — not to mention the entire Nexus line. That's seemingly set to change with this year's pair, though: Google could be partnering with iPhone-building Taiwanese firm Foxconn to manufacture the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.

The phones are being designed in-house at Google with the help of the HTC talent it acquired earlier this yearBloomberg's sources say the larger of the new devices will have dual front-facing cameras, while both will have a single shooter around back like the current Pixel phones — and, yes, the larger of the two will have a big honkin' notch.

Alleged Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL glass screen protectors leak with notch and unusual sensor cutouts

Monday, May 28th, 2018

The Pixel 3 and 3 XL are due later this year, but there haven't been any leaks yet. While there still aren't any leaks of the actual phones, a new image depicts what appear to be screen protectors for the upcoming Pixel phones. The XL is notch city, but both covers have some odd cutouts for sensors and/or cameras.

Let's address the elephant in the room first—yep, that XL screen protector has a screen notch.

LG V35 shows up on the Wireless Power Consortium site

Friday, May 25th, 2018

LG's mobile team has been making some... questionable decisions lately. It all began to go downhill when the V30S ThinQ debuted as nothing but a V30 with more RAM and some AI camera features. The company then threw the ThinQ branding on the V30 (and even the Canadian G6, though that seems to have been reversed). Now, because one minor revision of the V30 wasn't enough, the upcoming LG V35 (which will presumably carry ThinQ branding) has shown up on the Wireless Power Consortium's site.
