Moto G6 family, Moto X5, Moto Z3, and Moto Z3 Play renders and specs leak, revealing larger screens with 18:9 aspect ratios

Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

We just saw a leaked photo of the Moto E5 yesterday, but apparently that wasn't all there is to leak. Droid Life has posted renders and details on six phones: the Moto G6, the Moto G6 Plus, the Moto G6 Play, the Moto X5, the Moto Z3, and the Moto Z3 Play. All of them follow the trend of a higher screen-to-body ratio with an 18:9 display.

Before we dive in, it's worth noting that this information was unable to be verified by a second source, though it is known that the G-series models presented here (G6, G6 Plus, G6 Play) do exist according to @evleaks.

Moto E5 image leak reveals rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with Motorola logo on top

Monday, January 15th, 2018

Last year's Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus both received high praises in our reviews. Those phones both sported front-mounted fingerprint sensors, just as Galaxy devices and iPhones did for many years. However, it looks like Lenovorola may be moving the fingerprint sensor to the back for the Moto E5, according to a leaked image.

The image doesn't immediately make it obvious that the Moto E5 has a fingerprint sensor at all, but a closer look at the back reveals that the logo underneath the camera doubles as a sensor.

HTC U11 EYEs specs and photos leak in full ahead of unveil, courtesy of HTC’s own site

Monday, January 15th, 2018

It's always funny when manufacturers leak their own products ahead of their official launches. The U11 EYEs was thoroughly leaked a couple of days ago by Evan Blass, but while that leak was more comprehensive than most, it still didn't show everything. Now thanks to some mistakes at HTC, we can see all of the U11 EYEs's specs in full, right down to the launch promos.

We already knew a lot of the U11 EYEs's specs: a 6.0" 1080p Super LCD3 display in 18:9, a Snapdragon 652, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage with microSD expansion, a 3,930mAh battery, IP67 certification, Edge Sense, and Android Nougat.

Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ pass through FCC, confirming some minor details about the duo

Saturday, January 13th, 2018

Hot on the heels of last night's Galaxy S9 box leak, the S9/S9+ duo has passed through the US's FCC. Unfortunately, since these major companies know how impatient and clever us tech nerds can be, most of the information necessary to make it through the FCC has been obscured from the eyes of the common folk. There's still some information to be gleaned here, though.

First off, the US models of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are internally designated as SM-G960U and SM-G965U, respectively.

HTC U11 EYEs to have 6.0″ 1080p LCD, 3,930 mAh battery, Android Nougat, and more

Friday, January 12th, 2018

HTC already has two phones aside from the standard U11 under the same branding, the U11+ and U11 life, but it looks like a third variant may be about to join them. The interestingly-named U11 EYEs actually seems like it could be a pretty nice smartphone, judging from the specifications and photos leaked by famed leakster @evleaks - that is, aside from its inclusion of Android Nougat.

Alleged Galaxy S9 box reveals ‘Super Speed’ camera with variable apertures, ‘Super Slow-mo,’ and AKG-tuned stereo speakers

Friday, January 12th, 2018

With Samsung slated to unveil the Galaxy S9-series of phones next month, it's actually a bit surprising how few leaks there have been. That might be about to change, though, with a photo of an alleged retail box for the Galaxy S9 having been posted on reddit. It reveals a decent amount of information, including a 'Super Speed' camera with an aperture of f/1.5, 'Super Slow-mo,' and stereo speakers that have been tuned by AKG.

Sony Xperia L2, XA2, and XA2 Ultra leak ahead of possible CES reveal

Thursday, January 4th, 2018

Rumors about Sony's 2018 smartphone lineup have been circulating for a few weeks now. Earlier this week, 3D renders appeared of the XA2, XA2 Ultra, and L2. The phones represent Sony's mid-range and low-end lineup, and now VentureBeat has released more details about them.

There's nothing particularly exciting about the designs - the phones look just like every other Sony phone from the past few years. Thankfully, the XA2 and XA2 Ultra are ditching the Mediatek CPUs that its predecessors use, and going with Snapdragon 630 processors.

Tuesday, December 19th, 2017

Over the course of the past year, HMD Global has released a variety of smartphones under the Nokia brand. The mid-range Nokia 6 was first, followed by the lower-end 5 and 3. Then a flagship phone, the Nokia 8, was released. It seemed like HMD's lineup was complete, but apparently not.

A 'Nokia 9' has been in the rumor mill for a while, with a few details occasionally cropping up.
