LineageOS 15.1 Oreo arrives on Nexus 4, Exynos Galaxy S9/S9+, and more

LineageOS is the most popular custom ROM by far, and the project continues to update more devices to version 15.1 (based on Android 8.1 Oreo). Last time we covered LineageOS, the OnePlus 2, Pixel C, and Nexus 6 received Oreo. Since then, several more devices have been updated, including Google's flagship phone from 2012.

The Le Max 2 (x2), Motorola Moto Z (griffin), and Xiaomi Mi Note 2 (scorpio) already have 15.1 nighties available.

Motorola releases Android 8.0 Oreo kernel source code for 2016 Moto Z

Motorola hasn't been doing well lately. Several planned phones have seemingly been delayed or cancelled, and half of the company's engineering team in Chicago was laid off earlier this month. While Oreo has yet to be released for the company's 2016 flagship (at least beyond carrier testing), developers can now download the updated kernel source code.

If you're not familiar with how this works, the Linux kernel that Android uses falls under the GPL license.

LineageOS adds support for GSM and Verizon HTC One M9, Moto Z, and more

The LineageOS project has been working hard to add more features and support new devices. Since our last news roundup, version 14.1 of the custom ROM has been updated to Android 7.1.2, and some devices have been added to the official builds.

First, I'll talk briefly about the switch to 7.1.2. If you haven't been following our coverage of the update, it includes a new battery usage alerts list, as well as general fixes to Bluetooth and some other tweaks.
