Samsung’s Galaxy Buds coming March 8th for $129

Wednesday, February 20th, 2019

Samsung is no stranger to true wireless earbuds, but its first attempt attracted widespread derision for the pitiful battery life. The second-gen IconX did better, but the price tag was high at $200. Now, the Galaxy Buds are launching alongside the Galaxy S10 with a surprisingly reasonable price. These earbuds are coming March 8th for $129.

The new Samsung earbuds are slimmer and lighter than before, weighing just 5.6g per bud.

Aukey B60 Bluetooth earbuds review: USB-C charging and best-in-class comfort on the cheap

Friday, February 1st, 2019

It's a bummer, but wireless audio gadget manufacturers seem reluctant to adopt the USB-C charging port found on most new phones, tablets, and even laptops. Otherwise exciting earbuds like the Soundcore Liberty Air and Jaybird Tarah Pro are still shipping with increasingly outdated microUSB ports — or worse, proprietary charging solutions. So it's great to see that Aukey's affordable B60 buds — significantly cheaper than both former sets — feature the one port to rule them all, especially since so many other things about them are so darn good.

Tuesday, January 29th, 2019

You don't have to spend a lot to get a decent pair of headphones. Case in point: Aukey's B60 Bluetooth earbuds. They've got all sorts of niceties, like Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C charging, and they're a bargain at their usual $60. Right now, though, Aukey's offering a $15 discount with an Amazon coupon code.

In addition to their modern connectivity standards, the B60 have a magnet in each bud that can hold the two ends together when they're out of your ears.

Lenovo releases ThinkPad-branded earbuds in China

Sunday, December 23rd, 2018

ThinkPad laptops have been popular for over two decades, and the ThinkPad name is well-known. Lenovo has tried several times to use the brand for products other than laptops, like Android tablets, with mixed results. Now the company has introduced a pair of ThinkPad-inspired Bluetooth earbuds — the 'Thinkplus Pods One'.

According to a translated version of the product page, the earbuds feature IPx5 water protection, a two-tone design, three included earplugs, a 10-hour battery life, and Bluetooth 5.0 support.

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless review: Top of the class

Wednesday, December 19th, 2018

German company Sennheiser has a sterling reputation for creating high-quality audio products, so I was understandably enthused when I learned they were making a pair of true wireless earbuds. These products have improved a great deal since they first burst onto the scene, but they still tend to lag behind wired equivalents in terms of sound and can’t compete with bulkier Bluetooth sets in battery life.

Since Sennheiser is pretty late to the true wireless game, you would hope its engineers have taken their time to craft something superior to the many rival products already on the market.

Anker Zolo Liberty true wireless earbuds are $60 ($39 off), Liberty+ are $75 ($75 off) on Amazon

Monday, December 17th, 2018

If you've looked into affordable true wireless earbuds, you've probably heard of the Zolo Liberty (and Liberty+). The buds are made by Anker, and provide competent performance for a relatively low price. Currently, those prices are even lower on Amazon, and you can snag a pair for as little as $59.99.

The non-plus Zolo Liberty are normally $98.95, but are down to $59.99 with coupon code ZWSDZ2000. They come in black or white, and with the included charging case, can manage almost 24 hours of playback time before they need plugged in (although when you do top up, you have to use Micro USB — gross).

Funcl’s truly wireless earbuds now on sale, starting at $19 [Sponsored Post]

Tuesday, November 13th, 2018

One of the reasons many people hate the lack of headphone jacks on newer smartphones is that Bluetooth headphones are typically expensive, especially if you want a pair that actually work. Funcl today launched a crowdfunding campaign for two pairs of wireless earbuds — the $19 Funcl W1 and the $54 Funcl AI.

The Funcl W1, seen in the below photos, are a pair of truly wireless earbuds for just $19.

TicPods Free review: Capable true wireless earbuds that won’t break the bank

Wednesday, October 24th, 2018

True wireless earbuds have seen a huge rise in popularity over the last couple of years as the products have reached a price point and level of quality that make them viable purchases for mainstream consumers. The IFA 2018 show floor was packed with new models from various brands, and I’ve already reviewed two products in the category in the last couple of months.

The Earin M–2 ($249) and Master & Dynamic MW07 ($299) were both premium products with hefty price tags, but now it’s time to try something a little easier on the wallet.
