HP refreshes classroom-bound Chromebook x360 11 and Chromebook 11 with Intel’s latest N-series Celerons

Monday, January 21st, 2019

Today HP has announced two new refreshed Chromebooks in it's 11" series targeting the education market: the Chromebook X360 11 G2 and Chromebook 11 G7. As their names suggest, they're both 11" laptops running Chrome OS and designed for that extra durability required in the classroom. That means rubber trim, spill-resistant keyboards, and Gorilla Glass as required.

If you are familiar with the previous Chromebooks in the company's education-focused 11" series, these new models shouldn't be much of a surprise.

CTL announces Tx1 Chrome OS tablet with OP1 processor and stylus for $299

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

Chrome OS tablets are still in their early stages. The only dedicated tablet currently available is the Pixel Slate, which hasn't been received well. Models from other companies are on the way, like the Asus CT100, and now CTL has announced a Chrome OS tablet.

CTL mainly produces Chromebooks for schools and government facilities; we've reviewed their NL7TW-360 Chromebook and CBx1 Chromebox. The company's Tx1 tablet appears to have identical specifications to the tablet Asus announced at CES, with an ARM OP1 processor, 32GB storage, 4GB RAM, a 5MP rear camera, and a 2MP front-facing camera.

Historically, Brydge has released keyboards for iPads and Surface Pros, although we became more familiar with the company thanks to the 'Made for Google' Pixel Slate keyboard it recently produced. Brydge's Google intentions don't stop there, though, as it's now announced the first-ever wireless keyboard and touchpad designed exclusively for Chrome OS.

Brydge's Google intentions don't stop there, though, as it's now announced the first-ever wireless keyboard and touchpad designed exclusively for Chrome OS.

Styled in the same handsome navy blue as the Pixel Slate and its accessories, with black keys and accents, the keyboard features the same layout as recent Chromebooks, complete with a dedicated Google Assistant key.

Asus Chromebook Flip C434 is the first Chromebook worth waiting for in 2019

Tuesday, January 8th, 2019

The Asus Flip 302 has been a very popular Chromebook, but it's no spring chicken anymore. It's time for something new, and Asus is at CES 2019 to oblige. The Chromebook Flip C434 is the successor to the 302, and like that laptop, it has a 360-degree hinge so you can fold it over for tablet or tent usage. The specs are slightly improved with 8th gen Core processors and 8GB of RAM, too.

Monday, January 7th, 2019

One of the most praised midrange Chromebooks of the past couple of years is the ASUS Chromebook Flip C302. Ask several of our Android Police writers, and they'll sing you its praises for a good ten minutes, even two years after it was first announced. The world moves forward though, and now we have the C302's successor: the Chromebook Flip C434.

According to ASUS, the C434 takes everything people loved about the C302 and makes it better.

The HP Chromebook 14 is powered by an AMD processor, starts at $269, and comes in white

Sunday, January 6th, 2019

HP's new Chromebook 14 officially launched this morning, making it one of two AMD Chromebook launches so far during CES. The 14, as the name suggests, is a 14" laptop with an AMD A4 or A6 processor (depending on variant and region), and will start at an extremely reasonable $269. That gets you the AMD A4 processor with a 768p non-touch panel, but I was told that the version with a 1080p touchscreen should come in closer to $300, making it an easy choice for an upgrade.

Acer’s new Chromebook 315 packs an AMD processor, a big 15.6″ screen, and starts at $279

Sunday, January 6th, 2019

Acer announced a rather large AMD-powered Chromebook at CES this morning (as did HP), the Chromebook 315. The new laptop has a 15.6" display and is available with up to 8GB of RAM and an optional touchscreen. The specifications on the base model aren't clear, but we'd guess you're looking at 4GB of RAM and a non-touch display for the bare bones, which Acer says will start at $279 here in the US.

Chromebooks are popular among consumers, but they're huge in education. Asus has just rolled out a new family of education-focused Chromebooks, which it says are both lightweight and ruggedized. If something does break, the Asus Education series laptops are easy to open up and repair. That's important for anything you're going to give to kids.

There are four devices in the lineup, including two traditional laptops. Those are the Chromebook C204 and C403.
