The Ultimate Ears BLAST and MEGABLAST are good speakers overall, but there were two main areas in which we felt that they weren't quite up to snuff: pricing and features. The pricing concern has largely been alleviated, with some seriously good deals being offered on both models in the past few weeks, but we hadn't heard much on the feature front. Ultimate Ears has just announced that the BLAST and MEGABLAST will be getting Spotify Connect support, as well as some features it should have shipped with.

Right now on Amazon, you can get a great deal on an Ultimate Ears Megablast WiFi and Bluetooth speaker. On its own, the Megablast costs just $207, which is $93 less than the MSRP of $299. That's a significant saving, and it applies if you add the charging dock too. With it, the price is $247, adding $40 for the extra convenience.
Richard recently reviewed the Megablast alongside its smaller sibling, the Blast, and was impressed with their performance.

Bluetooth speakers can get fairly pricey, especially ones built for outdoor usage. Anker's Soundcore 2 is an exception, with high-quality 12W speakers in an IPX5-protected casing. Now you can get it for $29.99 from Amazon, a $10 reduction from the usual price.
The Soundcore 2 has gone on sale a few times in the past, but this is the lowest price it has ever been (last time it was $31.99). In addition to water and dust protection, the speaker has a 5,200mAh battery, which Anker says should last for 24 hours of music playback.

Ultimate Ears' new BLAST is a good speaker, but it's not without its flaws. One of its crucial flaws was its high price; at $229.99, the BLAST was more expensive than basically any of its competitors. However, recent discounts have made the price a lot more palatable, and this one from Verizon for $129.99 with the POWER UP dock included may be the best one yet.
The UE Blast comes with a pretty nice design (if you can ignore the crucifix), IP67 water resistance, and Amazon Alexa integration.

Etón is not a brand I'm familiar with and a quick look through the company's current products and Wikipedia page doesn't reveal too much aside from the fact that its products are aimed toward outdoor use and emergency preparedness. However, its new Air4 speaker is a very striking departure from all of that. It's a high-quality indoor speaker with a price that oscillates between $499 and $599 depending on where you look and it supports streaming through both Chromecast and Apple Airplay.

Ultimate Ears makes some really great portable speakers. One of their newest models is the UE BLAST, which was released earlier this year and which Richard reviewed last month, saying that it sounded great and could reach an "absurdly loud" volume. His main criticism was actually the speaker's price of $229.99, which, while arguably justified, is still a lot of money to put down for a portable speaker. Luckily, Amazon and Best Buy are selling the UE BLAST at a crazy discount today for only $99.99 — a whopping $130 less than its original price and almost half of what had previously been its best deal ever.

We published our review on Ultimate Ears' BLAST and MEGABLAST exactly one month ago today. They're good speakers overall, but they're not without their caveats. One of the most major issues we found is the price; $229.99 for the BLAST and $299.99 for the MEGABLAST, plus another $39.99 for the definitely-needed POWER UP dock, is a lot of dough for an imperfect product in this category. Today, however, Amazon has brought the BLAST and POWER UP bundle's price down to a much more palatable $179.99.

Those in the market for a Bluetooth speaker in the $100-200 range will surely have heard of Ultimate Ears for the company's popular BOOM 2 and MEGABOOM speakers. But if you're looking for a newer, more premium alternative, Logitech/Ultimate Ears has come out with the BLAST and MEGABLAST - not replacements for the BOOM series, but upmarket stablemates.
The main talking points of these two new speakers concern Alexa integration and superior sound.

After the Google Home was announced, it was only a matter of time before Google, like Amazon, made it possible for other brands to create their own Assistant-enabled speakers. We've already reviewed the TicHome Mini, a small portable alternative to the Home Mini, and today we're taking a look at JBL's line-up of Google Homesque speakers: the Link series. In this review, I will focus on the portable IPX7-rated cylindrical Link 20 and the larger stationary Link 300.

While Sony just announced a bunch of new headphones and speakers, some older Sony products are getting Google Assistant added via a forthcoming firmware update. As these headphones do not have independent Wi-Fi connections, Assistant availability depends on pairing the headphones with a phone.
The newly-announced WF-SP700N and WI-SP600N noise-cancelling sport headphones, as well as the HT-Z9F and HT-X9000F soundbars come with support for Google Assistant out of the box. For the WF-1000X, WI-1000X, and WH-1000XM2, as well as the WH-CH900N and h.ear on 2 WH-H900N wireless noise cancelling series of headphones and earbuds released last year, software updates will be provided to add Assistant support.
