Samsung One UI with Android 9 Pie beta now rolling out to Galaxy S9/S9+

Thursday, November 15th, 2018

After months of rumors, leaks, and even a good look at the interface to come, Samsung's TouchWiz One UI has now launched with the Android 9 Pie beta program. It appears to be live only in the company's home country, South Korea, for now, with Germany and the US still having to wait a little longer.

It's also only available for the Galaxy S9 and S9+, so if you have the more recently released Note9, you're going to be out of luck until the stable version is finally ready.

Feedly’s long-awaited redesign arrives in latest beta, with bottom tabs and cleaner interface [APK Download]

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

It's important to be kept abreast of the latest news, and the best way to do that is with an app that compiles it for you and makes it easier to digest. Feedly is one such app, and a favorite of many here at AP. While it still works fine, it has been looking a little dated recently. Not anymore, though, as a redesign has just landed with the latest beta update (version 51).

Google’s Digital Wellbeing exits beta, is now version 1.0 [APK Download]

Tuesday, November 13th, 2018

Google's Digital Wellbeing landed on the same day as Android Pie's formal release, bringing the means to better control how your phone fits into your life. At the time, it was billed as a beta, and though it has expanded to other Android One devices, that label continued to apply. At least, until now. We've spotted an update that brings the app up to v1.0 and drops the beta.

Left: v0.2.213978811 beta, Right: v1.0.220812418.

Samsung Experience is now One UI, but everyone’s just going to keep calling it TouchWiz

Wednesday, November 7th, 2018

It's been a long time since Samsung actually shipped a phone with TouchWiz — more recent software has gone by the unimaginative "Samsung Experience" moniker — but the company's heavy-handed changes in Android have kept the dirty word around as something of a software slur. Samsung has just announced a new interface design for its software that it's calling One UI, but if history is any indicator, you're still gonna call it TouchWiz.

New leak shows more Samsung Experience 10/Android 9 Pie screens from Galaxy S9+ beta

Thursday, October 25th, 2018

It's a little behind some other OEMs, but Samsung's Android 9 Pie beta is coming and we've already had a glimpse of what it will look like. We've now received new screens from an anonymous user who's been able to download the beta build (G965USQU3ZRJ7) on a Samsung Galaxy S9+ a little early, so we now have an even clearer picture of the upcoming Samsung Experience 10.

Perhaps the most obvious difference from the first leak is the consistent system-wide typeface, coming just two years after SamsungOne was debuted.

Nova Launcher 6.0 beta 5 can launch Google Assistant directly from the search widget [APK download]

Friday, October 12th, 2018

Nova Launcher 6.0 beta 5 just launched yesterday, and while not a major update, it does include a couple of notable features. First, as the title of this post says, you can now launch the full Google Assistant directly from the search widget on the homescreen. It's not enabled by default, though, so you'll have to go digging into the settings to locate the slightly obscure toggle. To do so, launch the Nova Settings apps, go to 'desktop,' hit 'search bar style' about halfway down the list, then scroll all the way to the bottom of the following menu.
