Acer Chromebox CXI3 now available for pre-order, starts at $298

Thursday, April 12th, 2018

For a while, it seemed like Chrome OS desktops were a thing of the past. Seemingly out of nowhere, HP, Acer, and ASUS all announced new Chromeboxes at CES earlier this year. Details were scarce about Acer's CXI3 desktop, but now the full specifications are available. You can now pre-order the machine from TigerDirect and NextWarehouse, starting at $279.99.

Acer is selling four different variants of the CXI3, ranging from the Celeron-based model with 4GB RAM to the Core i7 version with 16GB RAM.

CES 2018 wrap-up: More Android TVs than you can shake a remote at

Friday, January 12th, 2018

CES is wrapping up (I left Thursday afternoon), so we figured it would be a good time to sit down and give all of you an easy place to find a bunch of the stuff announced that are related to Android. This post will focus on all of the television sets that will come with Android TV installed. I got see a few of them on the show floor, but they weren't all that exciting from a brief glance standpoint — we've all seen TVs and most of us know what Android TV looks like by now.

Acer Chromebook 11 (2018) hands-on: USB-C and a blue finish keep things fresh

Sunday, January 7th, 2018

The Chromebook product segment continues to gather steam as time goes on. Acer recently announced a 2018 refresh for its Chromebook 11, adding USB-C ports and Android app support (versus mixed support on older models). For our first stop here at CES, we dropped by Acer to take a look at this laptop. Best of all, we got to see the nice-looking blue model, which immediately caught my eye.

The 1366x768 11.6" screen is passable, with muted colors, but stellar viewing angles.

Acer’s new Chromebook 11 has USB-C and Android app support, starts at $249

Saturday, January 6th, 2018

Acer has just announced its new Chromebook 11 (CB311-8H/T). Although this new Chromebook has USB-C support for power and peripherals, as well as an alleged 10-hour battery, its specs are balanced by a low-resolution display and an uncertain Celeron-badged processor. Starting at $249 and available in touch and non-touch versions, this new model doesn't actually go on sale until later this year—April in the US and March for the rest of the world.

Specs

Screen 11.6" 1366x768, touch and non-touch
CPU Untitled Intel Celeron
Storage 16/32GB
RAM 4GB
Peripherals 2x USB-C 3.1 Gen 1, 2x USB 3.0, MicroSD,
Wireless Bluetooth 4.2, 2x2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Camera "HDR"
Audio Dual stereo speakers, mic
Dimensions 0.71" (18.15 mm) thin, 2.43 lbs (1.1 kg)

Acer didn't provide the exact model number for the CPU in the Chromebook 11, but based on the price and fanless design, it's likely to be one of the lower-end versions (read: basically an Atom).
