Friday, October 19th, 2018

When it comes to wireless chargers, the biggest drawback of most of them is they make it hard to see or use your phone while it charges. Scosche's MagicMount Pro Charge, however, gives you a top notch wireless charger that places your phone in perfect view and without any cumbersome gadgets to keep it in place.

Review: Nimble’s batteries and wireless chargers offer eco-friendly designs with low specs at high prices

Sunday, October 14th, 2018

Mophie is well-known for both the quality of its products and the hefty price tag attached to them, so we were interested when we heard that a handful of ex-Mophie employees had splintered off to start a new, eco-mindful power accessory company called Nimble. With consumer cost-cutting recyclable packaging and a focus on renewable materials, we were curious to see if Nimble could disrupt the battery and charger status quo — a highly competitive market.

Master & Dynamic MW07 review: Exceptional sounding true wireless earbuds, but probably too pricey for most

Friday, October 12th, 2018

As the 3.5mm headphone jack slowly descends into the freezing cold waters of the past, our audio options for most high-end Android phones are limited to three. We can use and subsequently lose the adapter, get some USB-C headphones, or we can ditch the wires altogether. Bluetooth earbuds inelegantly attached to one another by a wire just won’t do any longer; true wireless earbuds are where it's at right now.

Apple’s AirPods have acted as a blueprint for other manufacturers, but none has yet perfected the form and function of this fledgling product category.

Google’s designer Pixel 3 cases in Japan will include their own AR experiences

Friday, October 12th, 2018

Google's first-party cases might be a bit on the chunky side, but they're nice enough to make up for the added thickness, and customers in Japan will be getting an extra benefit with their phone protection. Google's doing a whole collection of regionally exclusive (and super snazzy) cases for the country, and they come with their own AR experiences.

None of us here at AP speak Japanese, so we have to rely on the magic of Google translate, but based on the text included at the Japanese site, these cases may be limited editions designed by leading artists in Tokyo.

Ninety7 introduces JOT battery base for Google Home Mini

Wednesday, October 10th, 2018

As their names imply, Google's Home devices are designed with the intention of keeping them inside, but they're not always as portable as we’d like them to be. Since the company doesn't provide a way to use the units without plugging them into a wall outlet, third-party manufacturers have seized the opportunity to release battery bases. Ninety7 has just added the JOT to their line of solutions for smart speakers.

Last year, we reviewed Ninety7's LOFT battery base for Google Home and, while the hardware was solid, we questioned the need for it–the added bulk and constant recharging seemed to be a bit much.

Gamevice controller now available for Pixel 2, 2 XL, 3, and 3 XL

Wednesday, October 10th, 2018

When touchscreen controls don’t cut it for games, you’re left with two options: switch to a dedicated gaming machine or add your own hardware controls. For the past few years, Wikipad has sold its Gamevice detachable controllers which work with several Samsung Galaxy models and iPhones. The Google devices were sadly left out of the fray, until now as the company released a version that supports the Pixel 2, 3, and their XL variants.
