You’ll eventually find the music you’re looking for on Play Music.
Google Play Music All Access went live in India earlier this month, offering unlimited streaming and offline downloads for just ₹89 ($1.40) a month. With access to over 40 million songs, there’s certainly a lot to explore in All Access.
That said, the main problem with the service is discovery. You’ll have to put in a few hours’ worth of effort to get everything set up the way you want. Google is catering to the masses with All Access, and as such the service doesn’t have a diverse list of options during initial setup. You’ll be able to select from several local languages and pick out mainstream Bollywood acts, but if you’re like me and primarily listen to metal, your choices are non-existent.
There’s an easy explanation for this: Play Music is just getting off the ground in the country, and Google wants to be as inclusive as possible. It’s certainly going out of its way to do so — there isn’t even an…
Kodi, formerly known as XBMC, is an open-source media player that is available on a variety of platforms – including Android. If you use Kodi on your Android TV, you’ll be happy to know that the next major release will support Leanback suggestions and voice search.
This means that Kodi will fill the home screen of Android TV with content suggestions from your library, much like YouTube and Google Play Movies. And as you can probably guess, the voice search functionality means you can ask to play anything in your Kodi library from Android TV’s Google search (it will not return results from add-ons).
Kodi 18 will support Leanback suggestions and Google voice search on Android TV was written by the awesome team at Android Police.
This week, your hosts Daniel Bader, Jerry Hildenbrand and Andrew Martonik talk about what’s new in the world of smartphones, and the regulators that influence the carriers we pay to get cellular service for those phones.
Andrew gives his thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy S8, and the team talk about whether the new phone is a foundational phone that has problems — more like the Galaxy S6 than the Galaxy S7.
The BlackBerry KEYone is coming soon, but who is this phone for, and should you care? Daniel and Jerry give their thoughts.
The FCC is moving to repeal Title II, removing specific clauses from so-called net neutrality mandates that protect consumers from having “fast lanes” imposed on the internet. This is a big deal.
AT&T launched a “5G Evolution” network this week, but it’s more of the same — both in terms of technology (nothing new) and deceptive marketing (same old, same old).
This episode of the Android Central podcast is brought to you by Mint SIM. Looking for a g…
We posted about the price cut the Ecobee3 saw just a week ago over at Amazon, but it looks like things have dropped a bit further since then. Now the Ecobee3 is just $176.16, and that’s still shipped and sold by Amazon, not a third party.

Lithium-based batteries are omnipresent, but the material is not infinite. Researchers have found some exciting alternatives to lithium.(This is a preview – click here to read the entire entry.)
More of this year’s schedule for Google’s I/O developer conference is finally up. At least, more than the last time we talked about it. Not all of the events are on it, as some would likely give away announcements made during the keynote at I/O by the…
Friday is here and that means we all survived another week. For me, that means a weekend of homework and studying, but I hope not all of you share the same fate as I do. It being Friday also means it’s time for another round of apps that are free or on sale!
As always, the free apps will remain in your library unless you uninstall them within the Play Store’s refund window.

Anyone that might be considering a 2017 Audi A3 on the basis of it using Android Auto might want to reexamine their options. Apparently a large number of the cars are having difficulties with the compass in in Android Auto being rotated 180 degrees wh…
Android 7.0 Nougat has been out for a few months now, so we’re getting to the point when older phones are seeing the update. T-Mobile project manager Des Smith reports that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is next up. This phone’s Nougat update is on the way next week.
Here’s the tweet from Des with the basics.

Some changes mean you’ll want to sort out your schedule right away.
Google has filled in most of the details for the Google I/O 2017 schedule of events and you can start selecting and planning out which ones you want to attend.
At the I/O 2017 website, you can see all the talks and presentations for all three days of the event and choose the ones you’re interested in attending. You can track changes and even get notified through the site. As a plus, the mobile view of the site looks great in Chrome and acts very much like a native app so you don’t have to wait for the Google I/O app to be updated and can get started right away.
And you’ll want to get started right away because there are some changes this year. Because of some logistic problems and first-time mistakes Google I/O 2016 and its outdoor venue was a bit of a disaster for many. Google has listened to feedback and made some changes in the way it’s going to work. The tents that events are held in will be bigger and you’l…
